Are Sad To Announce

Sat. nite Folkstage Radio Show moved to the WFMT Studios.
Listen to the broadcast 8 to 9 PM, Sept. 2 on WFMT 98.7 FM
or streamed online from

Recent flooding of the Fox River had much of Island Park under water for up to 3 weeks. The severe damage to the grass has required total reseeding of more than 3/4 of the Island. With the reseeded area unable to support Festival level foot and vehicle traffic, the remaining usable grass would force us to downsize from 8 to 2 or 3 stages, eliminate most of the area Folklife Organization Showcases, and downsize or eliminate the Arts Area. Also, most foot, bike and vehicle traffic would be mainly funneled to the paved paths. Looking at our options, it became clear to us that the greatly reduced size, access, and quality of the experience for Artists, Audience and volunteers would have a very negative impact on this year's Festival. We consulted with our core staff and The Geneva Park District, and we unanimously agreed that cancelling was the only viable decision.
We have tried to identify possible sites for relocation, but the unique needs of the Festival and the logistics of moving make it nearly impossible to relocate without incurring huge additional expenses and the need for a much larger volunteer staff. We are continuing the search, and any suggestions will be considered. Thanks for helping to Spread the Word. We'll See You in 2018 - Bigger & Better!
